Tool instructions
From a list
to a usable result.
Choose the name picker when you need one entry next. Choose the team generator when every entry needs to belong to one group. Both work without an account, and neither uploads your list.
1. Prepare and apply your list
Enter one name or option per line, or paste a single spreadsheet column. Blank lines are ignored and outside spaces are trimmed; spaces within an entry are kept. Multi-column input is rejected rather than silently converted into extra people. The limit is 1,000 entries, 120 Unicode code points per entry and 512 KiB of raw input. A combined emoji can use several code points.
Update wheel confirms the draft. Unapplied changes do not become candidates. If a name appears twice, the two entries remain independent; add a distinguishing label when needed. Use Remove duplicates only when you intend to remove repeated text. Applying edits after an activity has begun asks you to start a fresh round or replace the current grouping.
2. Pick with or without repeats
Remove winner is the default: a picked entry becomes ineligible for the rest of that round. Keep winner permits repeated results. Check the rule and remaining count before clicking. The result is fixed before the wheel moves, so Show result now and switching off animation do not affect it.
When all entries have been selected, Start a new round restores their eligibility. Clear history only clears the record; it does not put picked entries back. A large list uses a result card rather than a crowded wheel. Open the full list to inspect the eligible entries.
3. Generate teams with clear headcounts
Apply a list, enter a valid whole number of teams, and inspect the size preview. Ten entries in three teams yield sizes 4, 3 and 3; which team receives the extra entry is randomized. Every entry is assigned exactly once. You may rename each team and copy one team or all of them.
Reshuffle teams creates a new membership arrangement. With the same team count, names are retained; generating a different count resets the team names. The tool does not promise skills, role or gender balance, and does not enforce same-team or different-team constraints.
4. Reuse a list or continue an activity
In Save, import & backups, explicitly save a named list to this browser. The library holds up to 20 lists within 2 MiB. Loading a reusable list starts fresh; it does not restore past exclusions. Download a JSON list for a portable backup, or an activity backup to preserve the current tool’s progress. Activity backups restore only into the matching tool.
TXT import accepts a single-column list. JSON import accepts the versioned formats produced by these tools, up to 4 MiB. Inspect the preview and confirm before replacing anything. Cancelling an import leaves your current activity unchanged. Local files are editable and are not certified draw records.
5. Share only the intended result
Copy, download TXT or CSV, or open Print preview. Check the selected history round before exporting; the export includes every matching record, not only the visible history page. Outputs may contain names. CSV applies protective prefix handling, but later editing or resaving in another spreadsheet program can change that protection.
Presentation mode hides editing and makes the activity easier to see. Browser fullscreen is optional; expanded page mode still works when it is unavailable. Use Exit presentation or Escape to return. You can carry the full applied list to the other tool only with the explicit transfer action and confirmation there; normal navigation never copies it automatically.
When a browser capability is unavailable
Storage, copying, printing and downloading can be blocked by your browser or device. Read the displayed warning and use the offered selectable text or local file alternative. Do not assume that closing a tab erases data on a shared device. See Privacy for the separate deletion controls.
